Alexander's career began in 1997 as the VP of Online Business at Vision Lab AG. He quickly moved through various positions, demonstrating adaptability and a keen business sense. Notably, he co-founded AiCOMM Online Solutions GmbH in 1999 and served as General Manager for six years. His entrepreneurial spirit was further exhibited by founding Erlmeier Systembetriebe GmbH in 2005, where he acted as General Manager.

Erlmeier's proficiency in business development is evident from his tenure at several high-profile companies. At commercetools GmbH, he was the VP of Sales and Business Development in 2007. Moving on, he joined ICQ, where he rose through the ranks from September 2007 to become Country Manager DACH by November 2012.

Alexander joined Outbrain in December 2012 as the Country Manager DACH, later becoming the Managing Director for Central Europe in April 2016, and then Managing Director, International, in January 2019.
