Brian Benedik is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in the media and digital industries. His career journey demonstrates a passion for leadership, team building, and fostering company culture. Brian's educational background set a strong foundation for his career. He attended Syracuse University, where he pursued a Bachelor's Degree in English at the College of Arts and Sciences and a BA in Radio, Television, and Digital Communication at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Additionally, he minored in Business Administration and Management at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. Brian furthered his education through an Executive Education Program at Columbia University Graduate School of Business in 2006.
Professional Journey
Brian's professional journey is marked by significant roles across noteworthy organizations. He began his career at Katz Media Group, quickly climbing the ranks to become Vice President and NY Sales Manager, and later, the group's President. He then took on the role of General Sales Manager at iHeartMedia before transitioning to Clear Channel Communications as a Regional VP.
Entrepreneurial Endeavors
In 2008, Brian founded Katz Digital, where he served as Managing Partner, leading the company until 2012. His next significant role was with Spotify, where he had a remarkable impact. Starting as VP and Head of Sales for the Americas, he advanced to become the Global Chief Revenue Officer. During his tenure at Spotify, Brian led a team of over 500 people and scaled the annual revenue from $20 million to over $1 billion in just 6.5 years.
Consultancy and Advisory Roles
After his successful stint at Spotify, Brian took on roles as a Strategic Initiatives Consultant at Audible, Inc., a Strategic Advisor at Targetspot, and SVP of Global Revenue at Niantic, Inc. Since January 2020, he has been serving as a Board Member at Sounder.fm.
Current Role
In December 2021, Brian was appointed as the Chief Revenue Officer at Audacy, Inc., where he continues to lead their revenue strategies from their New York office.
