By 2019, he had advanced to the position of Global Co-Head of Markets, a role that placed him on several key committees such as the Citigroup ALCO and the ICG Reputational Risk Committee. Carey's career took a new direction in October 2022 when he joined Apollo Global Management, Inc. as Partner and COO of Credit. By July 2023, he had taken on the additional role of Head of Performing Credit.
