Shay's career is marked by his role as a serial entrepreneur, with significant contributions to multiple companies and fields. He co-founded Destinator Technologies, where he served as the Vice President of R&D and Product Marketing from 1999 to 2003. Destinator Technologies was later integrated into Intrinsyc Technologies. Following this, Shay joined Yale Law School’s Information Society Project as a Fellow starting in July 2005, and he continues to be associated with it.

Shay's most notable entrepreneurial venture is Kaltura, a company he co-founded in 2006. Kaltura is dedicated to revolutionizing the future of video. Over the years, Shay held various key roles at Kaltura, including Chief Revenue Officer, President and General Manager for Media and Telecom, and Director. He played a major part in steering the company towards success in the digital media space.

In 2020, Shay shifted his focus towards leveraging AI to align human skills with future job requirements. He co-founded retrain.ai, where he currently serves as Chairman and CEO. The platform uses AI to assess and develop job skills, with a mission to re-employ one million people within five years. Retrain.ai collaborates with employers and governments to prevent job displacement by technology.
