Educational Background
Eric F. Grossman has built an impressive career in the legal field, backed by notable educational achievements and a series of key professional roles. Grossman graduated from Hamilton College in 1988. He then attended Fordham University School of Law, where he graduated in 1993 with a Juris Doctor degree, achieving magna cum laude honors and membership in the prestigious Order of the Coif. During his time at Fordham, he also contributed to the law review, which underlined his academic commitment and aptitude.
Professional Journey
Grossman's professional journey began with a clerkship for the Honorable Richard J. Cardamone at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1993 to 1994. This early experience provided him with valuable exposure to the intricacies of appellate court proceedings. He then became a partner at the distinguished law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, where he served from 2001 to 2005.
Career at Morgan Stanley
In 2006, Grossman joined Morgan Stanley and rapidly advanced through various significant roles. He initially took on the role of Global Head of Litigation, serving until 2010, and concurrently, he was the General Counsel of Global Wealth Management from 2008 to 2010. His expertise and leadership were further recognized when he became the Global Head of Legal, a position he held from 2010 to 2012. Since then, Grossman has been serving as the Chief Legal Officer at Morgan Stanley. In this capacity, he provides critical guidance on legal and regulatory issues to senior management, oversees departments such as Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Relations, and Global Financial Crime, and participates in Morgan Stanley’s management and operating committees.
Community Involvement
Beyond his professional roles, Grossman is actively involved in several boards and councils. He is the President of the Board of Directors of Advocates for Children of New York, a member of the Dean’s Planning Council at Fordham Law School, a board member of the Fordham Law Alumni Association, and a board member of the Serve America Movement. His involvement in these organizations highlights his commitment to education and public service.
