Eric Tencer is a highly accomplished professional with a diverse and impressive career in the fields of private equity, venture capital, and strategic advisory. Currently, he is the Managing Director at H.I.G. Growth Partners, an arm of H.I.G. Capital that focuses on growth buyout and growth equity investments, particularly in the software and technology-enabled services sectors. Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Eric has been a key figure at H.I.G. since April 2011. In his role, he works on a range of responsibilities including leading investments, improving operational efficiency, and driving value creation. His portfolio boasts involvement with companies like CarltonOne, Suzy, Mobile Health, Centerfield, AdTheorent, Eruptr, Boostability, and Just Home Health.
Previous Positions
Before his current position, Eric was a Principal at the Mustang Group from July 2007 to April 2011. During this time, he focused on identifying, evaluating, and executing private equity transactions. His responsibilities also included performing industry, business, and financial due diligence, raising capital for transactions, deal sourcing, and monitoring portfolio performance.
Eric gained significant venture capital experience as a Senior Associate at Arcadia Partners from January 2004 to August 2005. Here, he worked on early-stage investments in the for-profit education and training sector. Prior to this role, Eric was a Senior Associate at Bain & Company from August 2001 to August 2004. At Bain, he advised Fortune 500 companies across various industries like industrial, consumer, retail, and healthcare on strategic and operational issues.

Eric's academic credentials are equally impressive. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, obtained between January 2005 and January 2007. His foundational education comes from Duke University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, studying from January 1997 to January 2001.
