His impressive educational background laid a strong foundation for his extensive and successful career. Gregory earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987. He furthered his education at The Johns Hopkins University, where he completed both an MA and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry by 1993. This solid academic training in chemistry positioned him well for a career that spans various sectors of the food and consumer products industries.
Career Trajectory and Achievements
Gregory Yep's career trajectory is marked by significant achievements and leadership roles in several renowned organizations. Starting in 1992, he spent over a decade at McCormick, where he took on the role of Head of Flavor Creation and Aroma Chemicals. This experience was followed by a vice-presidency at Givaudan Flavours and Fragrances, where he served from 2005 to 2009, overseeing Global Application Technologies.
In 2009, Gregory joined PepsiCo as the Senior Vice President of Research and Development, contributing to the company’s innovations until 2015. Shortly after, he moved to Kerry, holding a similar senior role from January to June 2016, before transitioning to International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF). At IFF, he served in various executive capacities over several years. Notably, he was the EVP, Chief Research & Development and Global Integrated Solutions Officer, managing global R&D, innovation strategies, and sustainability efforts until his departure in 2023.
Board Memberships and Advisory Roles
In addition to his executive roles, Gregory has been active on several boards. He was a board member of CP Kelco and Huber Engineered Materials, providing strategic insights from 2018 to 2023. His advisory expertise extended to Will Ventures and he contributed to the Dean's Advisory Board at Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences for six years.
Current Role
In 2023, Gregory took on the pivotal role of Executive Vice President, Chief Technical Officer, Global Foods, and Corporate R&D at CJ CheilJedang in Seoul, South Korea. His responsibilities include spearheading technological advancements and R&D initiatives globally.
