From January 1984 to January 1985, he worked at the Executive Office of the President, The White House, on the Council of Economic Advisers as a Senior Counsel and Senior Economist. His career in public service continued as he served as a Commissioner for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Washington, D.C. from January 1985 to January 1990.
