Education and Early Career
Judith Hartmann is an accomplished executive with remarkable achievements in her extensive career. She holds a Ph.D. (Hons) in Economics and an MBA from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), obtained in 1997 and 1993 respectively. Her education laid the foundation for a successful career across various high-profile industries.
Professional Experience
Hartmann's career began at The Walt Disney Company, where she worked in internal audit and finance management roles from 1997 to 2000. Moving on to General Electric (GE), she served in multiple operational and finance positions over a span of twelve years. During her time at GE, she held significant roles such as CFO for GE Germany, CFO for GE Healthcare Latin America, and even served briefly as the Interim CEO for GE Healthcare Latin America.
In 2012, Hartmann transitioned to Bertelsmann, a leading European media corporation, where she took on the role of Group CFO. After three years, she moved to ENGIE, a key player in the energy sector. At ENGIE, she served in various leadership positions including Deputy CEO and Group CFO, Interim co-CEO in 2020, CSR from 2019 to 2022, and Procurement from 2021 to 2022. Her tenure at ENGIE lasted until January 2022, during which she focused on corporate strategy, capital allocation, and performance optimization.
Non-Executive Roles
Hartmann also has significant experience as a Non-Executive Director at various major firms. Since January 2015, she has been a Non-Executive Director at Unilever, a global consumer goods company. She held a similar role at SUEZ, an environmental services company, from 2015 to 2020. More recently, she joined Marsh McLennan in March 2023 as an Independent Director, contributing to the world's leading professional services firm in the areas of risk, strategy, and people.
Recent Engagements
In January 2023, Hartmann became an Operating Partner at Sandbrook Capital, a private investment firm dedicated to transforming the world’s energy infrastructure.
Leadership and Board Contributions
Throughout her career, Hartmann has been known for her expertise in CSR and ESG matters. She played a significant role in turnarounds and cultural change initiatives, showcasing her transformational leadership skills. Additionally, she has been active in various board committees, including nominations, remuneration, audit, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas.
Personal Interests
Outside of her professional endeavors, Hartmann is passionate about outdoor activities and sports. She engages in mountaineering, high altitude climbing, skiing, biking, running (having completed five marathons), and volleyball. She also has a keen interest in the arts, particularly in painting and supporting the Versailles opera.
