Early Education
 

Keir began his educational journey at The Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. He then pursued a Juris Doctor degree at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, laying a solid foundation for his future in law.

 
Career Beginnings
 

Keir kick-started his career with valuable internships. He worked as a Summer Associate at Morgan Lewis & Bockius in 1998, where he delved into employment, insurance, labor, and federal securities law. He also worked as a Summer Associate at Scottenstein Zox & Dunn, handling various corporate and litigation matters.

 
Professional Experience
 

His entry into the professional world began at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Between January 1999 and January 2004, he held multiple roles at the SEC, including Attorney-Advisor, Special Counsel, and Counsel to Commissioner Roel Campos. These positions involved extensive work on federal securities laws, including examining registration statements, periodic reports, and providing interpretive advice and guidance.

In July 2005, Keir joined Covington & Burling LLP as a Partner. Over 13 years at the firm, he advised public companies and non-profit organizations on corporate governance, securities regulation, and transactional matters.

Keir then moved to Uber Technologies, Inc. in August 2018, where he served in two major roles: Associate General Counsel, Global Corporate, M&A, and Securities Deputy Corporate Secretary until March 2021, and Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Deputy Corporate Secretary until July 2021. These roles saw him overseeing corporate legal matters, mergers and acquisitions, and global securities regulation.

In July 2021, Keir joined Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. as the Chief Legal Officer. He managed legal, compliance, and physical security teams while leading policy efforts until November 2023.

 
Current Role
 

Currently, Keir is the General Counsel at Edward Jones, a financial services firm serving millions of clients in the U.S. and Canada. In this role, he leads an extensive legal and compliance team, utilizing his vast experience in corporate governance and securities regulation.

 
Board and Advisory Roles
 

In addition to his professional roles, Keir is actively involved in several boards and advisory roles. He became a member of the Board of Directors at NPower in April 2023. NPower is an organization dedicated to creating economic opportunities for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Advisory Board at the Ira M. Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership at Columbia Law School.

His contributions to organizations like Edward Jones and Uber, along with his involvement in various boards and advisory committees, highlight his leadership capabilities and his commitment to advancing corporate governance and compliance.
