Kim Underhill is a highly accomplished professional with a long and distinguished career in the corporate world. Her educational journey began at Purdue University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering between 1978 and 1982. She furthered her education at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, obtaining a Master's degree in Engineering Management from 1992 to 1998. To supplement her practical experience, Kim completed the NACD Director Professionalism course in August 2015 and holds the NACD Directorship Certification®, valid from November 2021 to November 2023.
Early Career at GE and Initial Roles at Kimberly-Clark
Kim's career commenced at GE as a Process Engineer in Columbus, Ohio, where she worked from January 1987 to January 1988. She then joined Kimberly-Clark, a global manufacturing company, and embarked on a journey that saw her take on numerous roles over more than three decades. Initially, she handled research, operations, and brand management roles in the Oshkosh, Wisconsin area between 1988 and 1998. Her responsibilities soon expanded to include various managerial and directorial positions focusing on marketing for North Atlantic Baby/Child Care and Feminine Care segments.
Executive Roles at Kimberly-Clark
In 2006, Kim became the President of North American Family Care at Kimberly-Clark, showcasing her leadership in Oshkosh until July 2009. Her tenure in London from 2009 to 2014 included roles such as Vice President & Managing Director and President of Consumer Europe. She then relocated to Roswell, Georgia, and served as the Global President of Kimberly-Clark Professional, a position she held until December 2021. In parallel, she was the Group President at Kimberly-Clark from May 2018 to December 2021.
Post-Retirement Advisory and Board Roles
After retiring from Kimberly-Clark, Kim continued to impact the business world as a Senior Advisor and Executive Coach at Boston Consulting Group in Atlanta, Georgia, a part-time role she undertook in November 2021. Furthermore, Kim transitioned to influential positions on various boards. She serves as a NED Board Member for Glanbia in Dublin since August 2022 and a Board Member of Menasha Corporation in the United States since May 2022. She has also been a Member of the Board of Directors for Foot Locker in the Greater New York City Area since December 2016, where she contributes to the Finance/Strategy and Compensation Committees. Previously, she was a Board Member of FMI - The Food Industry Association, from June 2020 to December 2021.
