Amy Gilliland has built an impressive career that marries military service with leadership in the technology and defense sectors. Her educational journey began at the United States Naval Academy, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, laying a strong foundation for her future roles. Recognizing the importance of advanced education, Amy furthered her studies at the University of Cambridge, receiving a Master of Philosophy in International Relations and Affairs.

Amy's commitment to honing her business acumen led her to pursue an Executive Education Program in Accounting and Finance at The Wharton School. Later, she attended Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, earning an MBA through their International Executive Program. This diverse educational background has equipped Amy with a unique blend of strategic and operational expertise.

 
Military Service
 

Starting her career in the U.S. Navy, Amy served as a Surface Warfare Officer on the USS Laboon and held various roles including Media Liaison Officer, Navy Spokesperson, and Congressional Liaison Officer. Her nearly decade-long tenure in the Navy showcased her dedication to service and leadership.

 
Corporate Career at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT)
 

Transitioning from military to corporate life, Amy embarked on a distinguished career at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). She began in strategic and investor relations roles and gradually ascended to more senior positions. Amy's roles included Director of Strategic Planning & Investor Relations, Staff Vice President of Investor Relations, and Staff Vice President of Strategic Planning. Her leadership abilities shone through, and she eventually became the Senior Vice President of Human Resources Administration and later, Senior Vice President of Operations.

Since September 2017, Amy has been serving as the President of GDIT. In this role, she leads nearly 30,000 professionals in delivering innovative solutions to government agencies, emphasizing a collaborative and growth-oriented work culture.

 
Awards and Recognition
 

Amy's professional excellence has not gone unnoticed. She has been named one of Virginia Business Magazine's 50 Most Influential Virginians and is a five-time Wash100 award winner. Additionally, she was honored as a Washingtonian Tech Titan.

 
Board Memberships and Advocacy
 

Beyond her role at GDIT, Amy is an active board member of BNY Mellon, the Economic Club of Washington, DC, and the Northern Virginia Technology Council. She is also involved in advocacy and support for Rett Syndrome through the Rett Syndrome Research Trust and Rett University.
