Educational Journey

Mark's educational journey began at the University of Michigan, where he studied Political Science. He graduated with an AB degree in 1981. He then pursued a Doctor of Law (JD) at the University of Chicago Law School, completing his law degree in 1984. This robust educational foundation set the stage for his multi-faceted career.

 

Early Professional Role

Following his graduation, Mark took on his first professional role at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in January 1984. He served as a Partner at the firm for over a decade, honing his skills in corporate law. In January 1996, he transitioned to Latham & Watkins, a global law firm renowned for handling complex legal matters. During his tenure there, he climbed the ranks to become the Global Chair of Mergers and Acquisitions. He remained with Latham & Watkins until December 2022, playing a crucial role in various high-profile transactions.

 

Academic Role

Mark's career took an interesting turn in January 2020 when he embraced an academic role at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. As an Adjunct Professor, he imparted his extensive knowledge and experience to the next generation of legal professionals.

 

Corporate Governance Role

In addition to his academic role, Mark also extended his expertise to corporate governance. In May 2022, he joined Omnicom as a Non-Executive Director and became a member of the firm's Audit and Finance Committees. Omnicom is a global leader in marketing communications, and Mark's role there underscores his broad range of skills and knowledge.

 

Current Role

Most recently, in April 2023, Mark took on the position of Senior Advisor at PJT Partners in Chicago, Illinois. PJT Partners is a prestigious investment bank known for its strategic advisory services.
