Starting with his education, Mark attended Villanova University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from January 1988 to January 1992. This strong academic background set the stage for his future endeavors in the financial and biotech industries.

Mark’s professional journey began at Merrill Lynch, where he worked as an Analyst from June 1992 to December 1993. He then moved on to Citi Securities as an Associate until March 1999. His career in investment banking continued to flourish at UBS Investment Bank, where he served as an Executive Director from March 1999 to June 2004.

Transition to Biotechnology and Medical Devices

 
Transitioning into the biotechnology and medical device fields, Mark held several high-ranking positions. He was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Cytori Therapeutics from June 2004 to August 2014 and later served as CFO at Bird Rock Bio, Inc. from August 2014 to February 2017. These roles allowed him to hone his expertise in financial management and corporate development within the biotech sector.

Current Roles and Contributions

 
Currently, Mark is the CEO and Board Member of NuLids, LLC, a company specializing in innovative eye health solutions based in San Diego, California. He has held this position since February 2018. Beyond his role at NuLids, Mark contributes his skills and experience to several other organizations. He has been a Board Member at Axsome Therapeutics, Inc. since December 2014, a Partner at Alethea Capital Management LLC since April 2017, and a Board Member at both Presidium Health and 3X4 Genetics since October 2019 and June 2020, respectively.
