This academic background laid the groundwork for her expertise in areas such as pensions, retirement, and employee benefits.
Leadership and Career Achievements
Martine's career path is marked by a series of progressive leadership roles, particularly within Mercer and Marsh McLennan, where she served as President and Chief Executive Officer until her retirement in March 2024. During her tenure at Mercer, she led the company and significantly contributed to the parent company, Marsh & McLennan Companies. Her leadership style balanced empathy and economics, driving both sustainable future initiatives and profitable growth.
Before her role as CEO, Martine held several key positions at Mercer. She was Group President, overseeing operations from London, and Europe & Pacific President, where she also co-led Global Health initiatives. Prior to these roles, she led the Retirement Business in the Europe & Pacific region and worked extensively on strategic acquisitions and growth.
Martine's career began with Towers Perrin (which later became part of Towers Watson), where she spent many years as a Pension Consultant and Actuary. She climbed the ranks to become a Global Consulting Group Leader and Asia Retirement Business Leader. Her vast experience also includes a stint as the Director of Canada Retirement at Towers Watson.
Board Memberships and Social Engagement
Outside the corporate world, Martine is actively engaged in social causes. She is an independent board member of WSP Global and a trustee of the New York Academy of Medicine. Known for her passion for diversity and collective problem-solving, she strives to make a positive impact in the world through meaningful work.
Personal Life and Interests
Martine’s personal interests include hiking and skiing, and she cherishes her role as a mother and grandmother. Her motto, "À coeur vaillant rien d’impossible!" (To a valiant heart, nothing is impossible), encapsulates her determined and optimistic approach to both her professional and personal life.
