Michelle Jarrard: An Accomplished Executive
Michelle Jarrard is a highly accomplished executive with a strong track record in leadership, management, and strategic development across a wide array of industries. Her impressive career journey begins with solid academic credentials. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering (BIE) from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the prestigious Harvard Business School.
Career Beginnings
Michelle's professional career took off at IBM, where she started as an intern in the early 1980s. She then moved on to McKinsey & Company, where she spent a remarkable 25 years. During her time at McKinsey, she climbed the ranks to become a Senior Partner. One of her notable roles there was serving as the Global Chief HR & Talent Officer, where she was responsible for many of the firm's major human resources and talent management initiatives. Michelle was also involved in various global committees and held the role of chief-of-staff to the Global Managing Director.
Venture Capital and Board Memberships
After her long tenure at McKinsey, Michelle ventured into the realm of venture capital as a Managing Director at the GRA Venture Fund, an early-stage venture capital fund. Her role involved overseeing investments and guiding start-ups, leveraging her extensive experience in business and strategy. Additionally, she served on the board of Rural Sourcing Inc., a company devoted to creating IT jobs in rural communities, further showcasing her commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth.
Current Role
Michelle's current role as CEO of BioCircuit Technologies marks another significant milestone in her career. Since April 2019, she has been steering the early-stage medical device company toward developing groundbreaking tools for nerve repair and neuromodulation. Under her leadership, BioCircuit Technologies is making notable strides in the field of medical technology.
Board Memberships
In addition to her executive roles, Michelle has an extensive list of board memberships. She has been a Director on the Board of Inspire Brands, a multi-brand restaurant company, since January 2021. She holds a similar role at Lazard, a leading financial advisory and asset management firm, since January 2017. Since April 2020, she has also been a Director at Gimme, a company that develops route management software for vending machines.
Michelle's board experience doesn't stop there.
- She is the Chair of the Board of Directors at Crawford & Company, the world's largest independent claims management solutions provider, serving since July 2018.
- She also served on the board of Quest Renewables, a company specializing in sustainable solar solutions, from September 2016 to January 2024, and Axion BioSystems, known for developing bioelectronic tools for cellular analysis, from May 2016 to July 2021.
Her dedication to healthcare and education is evident through her roles as a Trustee of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, one of the largest pediatric healthcare systems in the United States, and the Georgia Tech Foundation Board.
