His journey began academically with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Duke University, which he earned between 1980 and 1984. He furthered his education with a PhD in Pharmacology from the UNC School of Medicine, completed in 1991.
Early Career
Dr. Jeffs has held numerous prominent positions throughout his career, each contributing to his reputation as a leader and innovator in biopharmaceuticals. Early in his career, he worked as a Technical Consultant for Biotech/Pharma Patent Prosecution & Litigation at Cusham Darby & Cushman and a Clinical Research Scientist at Burroughs Wellcome. His role as Associate Director of Product Development at Amgen between 1995 and 1998 marked his first significant leadership position in the industry.
United Therapeutics Corporation
One of his most notable achievements was his extensive tenure at United Therapeutics Corporation, where he served from 1998 to 2016 in various capacities, including President, COO, and later as co-CEO. During his time at United Therapeutics, Dr. Jeffs oversaw critical milestones, including the initial public offering (IPO) and the clinical development of six rare disease products, underscoring his impact on the company's growth and innovative direction.

Following this, Dr. Jeffs expanded his influence by taking on board member roles at several companies, including Dova Pharmaceuticals, Sangamo Therapeutics, Axovant Sciences, SPYRYX Biosciences, and others. Currently, Dr. Jeffs holds several key positions. He is the CEO at Liquidia Corporation since January 2022, focusing on pioneering therapies for pulmonary hypertension. Additionally, he is the Vice-Chairman and Co-founder of Kryia Therapeutics, which aims to accelerate gene therapy development. He also co-founded and owns Bull City Select Investments, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit.
