In July 2005, he joined Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where he spent nine years as a Partner and Managing Director, leading large-scale transformations in the telecom sector.

Sampath's tenure at Verizon began in June 2014 as Senior Vice President of Business Transformation in the Greater New York City Area. Over the next few years, he took on various pivotal roles. As the Chief Product Officer from April 2017 to December 2018, he led significant strategic initiatives such as Network Transformation and One Fiber. Following this, he managed Verizon Media as Chief Financial Officer and Group Strategy and Transformation from October 2018 to February 2020.

He then became the President of Global Enterprise in February 2020, followed by the role of Chief Revenue Officer for Verizon Business in April 2021. By July 2022, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Verizon Business, where he spearheaded the digitization efforts of global businesses, governments, and communities.
