Susan Yun Lee is an accomplished investment professional with a robust educational background and a diverse career. She began her academic journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stanford University, where she graduated with honors and was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa society. She furthered her education at the University of Oxford, studying International Economics at Magdalen College. Susan capped her academic achievements with an MBA from Harvard Business School, where she graduated with honors and was recognized as a Toigo Fellow.
Professional Career
Susan's professional career is marked by significant roles in both investment management and strategic advisory. Her career began at Bain & Co. as an Associate Consultant, where she provided strategy and operational improvement consulting for Fortune 500 companies. She then transitioned to The Walt Disney Company as a Senior Business Planner, contributing to international strategies and major projects like Shanghai Disneyland.
Susan’s interest in private equity led her to roles at Vintage Capital Group and Black Canyon Capital as a Senior Associate and Private Equity Investor, respectively. She then joined Angeles Investment Advisors as a Partner and Director, where she launched and managed a multi-billion dollar private alternatives platform.
Portfolio Management
Her expertise also extended to managing large investment portfolios. As the Managing Director of Investments at The Broad Foundations and Eli Broad's Family Office, Susan managed a $2.5 billion portfolio that spanned various asset classes. She later became the Chief Investment Officer for a Private Family Office and Foundation, where she was instrumental in establishing legal entities and developing investment strategies.
Current Roles
Currently, Susan is the Chief Investment Officer and Partner at Clif Family Foundation and White Road Capital. Here, she focuses on strengthening food systems, enhancing community health outcomes, and safeguarding the environment. In addition, she serves as an Independent Director at both the American Battery Technology Company and Crescent Capital Group, contributing her expertise to several committees, including Audit and Compensation.
Advisory and Educational Contributions
In her advisory roles, Susan has helped various foundations and family offices develop investment strategies, asset allocation, and governance frameworks. She also contributes to the education sector as a Guest Lecturer for the UCLA Value Investments course.
