Susan began her career as an Analyst and Consultant with Mercer, working across their Tampa, St. Louis, and Cincinnati offices from 1987 to 1992. She then moved to Bayer HealthCare, where she spent four years as an HR Manager. These early roles allowed her to build a strong foundation in Human Resources and organizational behavior.
Rise at Johnson & Johnson
Her career took a significant leap when she joined Johnson & Johnson in 2003. Over the span of nearly 14 years, Susan held multiple senior positions including Director of Human Resources, VP Human Resources & Global Management Board Member for the Cordis Franchise, and VP Worldwide Total Rewards & Performance. These roles saw her oversee global compensation and benefits, manage the HR function for pharmaceutical R&D, and help prepare HR talent to meet future needs. Her tenure at Johnson & Johnson culminated in her role as Vice President and HR Executive Committee Member, a position she held until 2017.
Transition to MetLife
In 2017, Susan transitioned to MetLife in the Greater New York City Area, where she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. Here, she led a global HR organization servicing more than 40,000 employees across 43 countries. Her focus on modern and inclusive workforce strategies was pivotal in driving organizational and cultural transformations.
Current Role
In June 2024, Susan began her current journey as an Independent Board Member, Tech Advisor, and Investor. Now self-employed, she continues to influence the field of Human Performance and Potential. She participates in board work, steering committee memberships, and advises start-ups. This latest role illustrates her ongoing commitment to the intersection of business strategy and human capital development.
