He then pursued military training at the Israeli Naval Academy from 1989 to 1991, where he trained as a naval officer. Although he later attended the Holon Institute of Technology for industrial design from 1996 to 2000, he did not complete his degree. Nonetheless, his practical knowledge and skills have proven invaluable throughout his career.

Early Ventures

One of the earliest ventures Galai embarked on was founding NetWorks Web Design (1997-1999). Following this, he co-founded Ad4ever in 1999. Founding of Quigo

In 2000, Galai co-founded Quigo, a company that pioneered contextual advertising on the internet. He led the company initially as CEO in Tel Aviv and later relocated to New York, where he served as Senior Vice President of Product. Under his leadership, Quigo thrived and was eventually acquired by AOL in 2007.

Outbrain

In 2006, Galai co-founded Outbrain, a firm that significantly impacted online advertising through its focus on recommendation engines and native advertising for publishers. He guided the company as CEO for over a decade before taking on the role of Co-CEO and Chairman, and eventually, Chairman of the Board. During his tenure, Outbrain made a notable achievement by going public on Nasdaq in 2021.

Other Ventures and Roles

Additionally, Galai has been involved in other successful ventures and positions. He co-founded Listory in 2020, a company focused on content curation, which was later acquired by SpokenLayer. His role as Chairman at SpokenLayer began in December 2023, reflecting his continuous influence in the industry.

He also played a strategic role at HopStop.com, serving on its board from 2008 to 2014. HopStop was a pioneering service for public transportation mapping and was acquired by Apple, adding another notable exit to Galai’s portfolio.
